What are FRs?

Why use flame retardants ?

Flame retardants reduce the likelihood of a fire starting by providing increased resistance to ignition. Should a fire start in some other item, flame retardants will act to prevent its spread to the treated object. Even if ignition does occur, flame retardants will act to delay the spread of flame and the development of the fire, providing extra time in the early stages when the fire can be extinguished or an escape can be made.
